Enteprise

The Computing Unit provides a centralized computing platform for Enterprise Server (Mainframe) Applications. The existing environment supports Batch, CICS, DB2 and Adabas processing. The system is fully integrated with a Virtual Tape Subsystem (VTS), high performance Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) and high speed Laser Printers. The Enterprise Server continues to be the most reliable and secure platform available today.
Risc

The RISC Based Server (Unix/Linux) Hosting service allows customer owned equipment to be located at the State Computer Facility, benefiting from the investment in environmental controls, reliable power systems and security (see back panel). We provide systems administration including updates, backup and recover, job schedule monitoring as well as regular auditing of system health, security and availability.
e-mail

The Computing Unit maintains a redundant Exchange architecture that provides failover services between Las Vegas and Carson City. Along with general Outlook client E-Mail services, we include spam and virus protection, internal instant messenger and desktop-to-desktop conferencing services as part of the E-Mail account charge. The combined solution provides a comprehensive scheduling and messaging environment for groups of any size.
web

Web Application Hosting is a service that allows customers to generate their own web content (or use services provided by the Application Design and Development Unit of DoIT) and host them on centrally managed web servers. This environment is quickly moving toward redundant delivery of services to ensure uptime and has the benefit of high bandwidth internet connectivity and real-time monitoring of site availability.
intel

Similar to RISC Based Server Hosting, the Intel Based Server Hosting service provides a secure, reliable physical environment for customers to place their equipment. In addition to a basic hosting tier that provides rack space with environmental stability (HVAC, power, security), there are two addition tiers providing increased levels of service.
VM

The VM/Linux environment offers the hardware reliability of the Enterprise Server and the cost advantages of a virtual machine platform. Virtual servers are available on a Service Level Agreement basis and are sized based on customer requirements.
High

The same quality and speed associated with the Enterprise Server Printing has been extended to any platform capable of printing to a network printer. We have enabled this functionality using the same equipment and chargeback model that exists for mainframe printing. The InfoPrint Server is capable of accepting input in a variety of formats including text, PostScript, PDF and AFP. Large printed report requirements are the best candidates for this service. |
