DoIT Planning assists agencies throughout the IT planning lifecycle. It maintains and supports The Technology Investment Request (TIR) process. Agencies are assisted with using the TIR and related planning tools to build business cases for IT investments, plan IT projects, quantify benefits and risks related to IT efforts, evaluate viable IT solutions and conduct cost / benefit analyses of viable alternatives. DoIT Planning works with agencies and the state Purchasing Division to transition budgeted projects into the implementation phase by assisting with Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, and by assisting DoIT administration in the review of agency IT contracts. Planning also assists agencies in selecting and acquiring qualified project managers to assure successful project implementation. Planning serves as a point of contact for agencies planning for DoIT services, and helps agencies link with the appropriate DoIT services as they plan IT projects.
